Excerpt from A Life of Offering

We have been considering the way of offering for many years now. This is a never-ending pursuit because it plumbs the depths of God Himself. Offering is the way that God lives. And offering is the way that God gives. There is no other way of life for aChristian. Hence, we have titled this book A Life of Offering.

From the very outset, let us heed the words of the apostle John.‘Little children, let us not love with word or with the tongue, but in deed and truth.’ 1 John 3:18. The ever-present danger for us is in-speak. Are we hearers of the word or are we doers? Do we know the language of offering, yet continue in the same mode as before? Offering is not a new name for old practices. Offering is giving, but not all giving is offering. Do we use the terminology, but never make a lifestyle shift? Does the Lord and His kingdom of offering have first place in everything?

We must order and prioritise our lives to offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving, raise heave offerings and make vows. It is only when we honour the Lord from our wealth and the first of all our increase that we participate in a kingdom that is untouchable, unshakeable and immovable. In the midst of uncertain economic times, this is the motivation behind this book.
