The Testimony of our Lord
Victor Hall with David Falk, David Baker and Murray Wylie
Writing to Timothy, the apostle Paul exhorted him, ‘Do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner’. 2 Tim 1:8. Throughout his ministry, Paul did not come to any of the churches with superiority of speech or wisdom. He simply proclaimed ‘the testimony of God’. 1 Cor 2:1. The testimony of God is the revelation of His name so that we can know Him. It was always in the heart of the great apostle to press on to know the Lord as he testified himself, ‘That I may know Him’. Phil 3:10.

Excerpt from The Testimony of our LordThe testimony of our Lord was the only gospel preached by the apostle Paul. He wrote to the Corinthian church, ‘When I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom proclaiming to you the testimony of God’. 1 Cor 2:1. The great apostle was a bondslave and prisoner of this testimony. He called it ‘my gospel’. And he wrote to Timothy, ‘Do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner’. 2 Tim 1:8. The testimony of our Lord is the revelation of JHVH Elohim (translated in English as the Lord God) who is before all things and fills all things. It is the revelation of Their name, which is above every other name. All zoe life belongs to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the fellowship of this one name and one Spirit. This life is equal to Their fellowship, and this fellowship is equal to Their life. The testimony of our Lord is the fellowship of JHVH (Yahweh/the Lord) and the community of Elohim (God) revealed in Their name. When I AM reveals His name as JHVH (Yahweh/the Lord), we behold Him as ‘one Lord’. We recall the words of Moses, ‘Hear O Israel, JHVH [Yahweh/the Lord] is our Elohim [God], JHVH [Yahweh/the Lord] is one!’ Deut 6:4. He is one Lord in the fellowship of one life, one name, and one Spirit. This is the fellowship of Yahweh. Equally, when I AM reveals His name as JHVH Elohim (the Lord God), we behold the three individual and distinct persons of the Godhead – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is the community of Elohim. I AM is absolutely One and absolutely Three. This is the mystery of God.
