God Honours Obedience
Josh Mackay
Obedience is an essential part of life. When we are younger, obedience is a huge part of our life, with parents and teachers telling us what to do and what not to do. God also requires us to be obedient. Obviously, He requires that we obey Him; but more than that, He has instructed us that we should also obey those who are in authority over us, as if we are obeying God Himself. This is because He has put that authority in place and it is for our benefit that we obey.
Mostly, when we are young, we obey because we either do not have a choice, or we are scared of what will happen if we disobey. As we get older, things slowly change. We receive fewer instructions and we get more choices. We also have more freedom and less supervision. Therefore, the restraints causing us to obey are less. That is the test of true obedience. Will we obey even if we can ‘get away with it’?
